Pablo Picasso And His Artworks

“Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth.”- Pablo Picasso

Pablo Ruizy Picasso, also known as Pablo Picasso was born into a creative family. He was a sculptor, stage designer, poet, playwright and a well known Spanish painter who chose to spend most of his life in France. Picasso was regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century in terms of artworks and movements that occurred during this time. His career spanned over a 7 decade period.

He is known for: a) Invention of constructed sculpture and exploration of variety of styles. b) Co-founding the cubist movement. c) Co-invention of collage.
d) Modern approach to painting.

Picasso was a Spanish born artist who became a well known name in modern art, with an eye for artistic creation and distinct style. He had a massive following of fans and critics alike. During his early age, he was enrolled at the school where his father was a teacher. Being quick at grasping the concepts he was able to surpass his seniors at the institution.

It was at the age of fifteen, that his life put him on the track he was supposed to move ahead with. A relative offered to pay for his art training at the Royal Academy of Art in Barcelona. Picasso could never completed his graduation. His restlessness was a trait that remained associated with him throughout his personal and professional life.

Picasso moved to France in 1900 and lived a life of poverty. He continued to shift between France and Spain. During the same time, one of his friend committed suicide which led him to enter a period called “Blue period”. He then painted monochromatic paintings in shades of blue-green only.

The Old Guitarist and Blue Dude were two of the most famous paintings from this period.

Picasso was known for his creative instinct which made him move interchangeably between different styles and art forms.

He has a great impact on the art work and sculptures, produced today and into the future. His free spirit and eccentric style made it a necessity for artists to follow him. His originality of work touched every major art movement and artist.

Even today, his life and works attract many followers as well as countless scholarly interpretations. Till date it has been hard for artists to achieve the same degree of fame and versatility as Pablo has in the art history.
